What is Restylane®?:Hyaluronic acid is a natural sustance found in skin and works to trap water and maintain the intercellular space within the dermis. As skin ages, hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin are gradually lost from the dermis. This end result is volume loss, skin laxity, and wrinkles.

Restylane® is a non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid based dermal filler. It was FDA approved for the treatment of wrinkles in Dec 2003, but has been widely usedin Europe and other parts of the world. Restylane® is produced from steptococcua bacteria. It is purified, sterilized, and then chemically stabilized into a clear gel.

Restylane® is used to replenish the dermal volume loss that allows wrinkles to form. It is also used to enhance lips, and fill in acne scars. Because it it is minimally modified Restylane® has a low incidence of hypersensitivity reactions, and requires no skin testing prior to treatment. The chemically stabilized hyaluronic acid found in Restylane® can remain in the dermis for up to one year.

What is RADIESSE®?:
RADIESSE® formally called Radiance is a synthetic dermal filler made of calcium hydroxapathe. It is used for soft tissue augmentation, and to treat skin folds amd wrinkles. Calcium hydroxapathe is an inorganic sustance similar to bone. NO animals or animal products are used during its production, and no skin testing is needed.

How RADIESSE® Works:
When injected into the deep dermis and subcutis RADIESSE® provides a matrix into which the body’s own tissue can grow and add volume in this way, it is used for soft tissue augmentation, and can help to fill in deep skin folds and wrinkles.

RADIESSE® injections have been shown in some cases to last up to 1 year. However, individual results may be affected by age, skin type, lifestyle, and muscle activity. Some clients may achieve an optimal correction on their first injection. For other clients, variability in the rate of tissue in-growth following reabsorphion of the gel carrier may require additional injections to achieve an optimal correction.
